Emery-June 2011 Assignment

1) Album Cover Assignment:
The name of the band from Wikipeida was Moment Redistribution...A science term that I don't want to even try to explain..
My Random Quote and album name was from a Dan Rather quote which ended with "Think of the Lone Ranger"
So I have superimposed a picture of my son Jordan playing the drums at a show (he is a MONSTER of a drummer!), and the Lone Ranger. Hope I don't get in trouble for violating any copyright laws...If I do, blame Quotes.com....

2) Waterfall
A very small waterfall for sure. But this stream by the side of the road after a rainfall made me stop, hop out of the car, and start clicking...And that's what it's all about, right?

Aperture: F/36; Exposure: 1s; ISO-100

3) Flowers
If you've been following my blog this month, you'll recognize these flowers. I found this little patch of flowers growing in my lawn. Normally I would have mowed over them (each flower is the size of a fingernail), but I have been infatuated with them. I like how one flower is growing tall, and the rest are sort of watching or looking up to it.

Aperture: F/36; Exposure: 1/4s; ISO-100

4) Open:
After going to the Sox game this month, I had a bunch of pics on my blog relating to baseball. This was my son's favorite. An old bat of my dad's and an old ball. Shot in Black and White, with the stitching photoshopped Red.

Monthly Challenge - May

Hello fellow Clickers!  I know, I said I was retiring from blogging for you, but I just cannot seem to let go ;)  I wanted to post a reminder of our challenge categories this month.

  1. Waterfalls - Try to slow down your shutter speed to get the motion blur.  Be sure to use a tripod!
  2. May Flowers - Shouldn't be too difficult ;)
  3. Album Cover Challenge - Click the link or scroll to the post below for the details
  4. Open Category - Anything you want, but try to challenge yourself!
Also, here is the link to spaceweather.com.  The other post was not working, so I think this link should work.

Happy photographing!!

Album Cover Challenge

1. Go to wikipedia and hit 'random article' on the left. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2. Go to quotationspage.com and hit 'random quotes' on the left. The last 4-6 words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your album.

3. Now go take a photo that fits with your album!

4. Use photoshop or similar (picnik.com is a free online photo editor) to put it all together.

5. Share your image (or images, you can do as many as you like) with on this blog and label it with 'album cover challenge'!

An example from Juliette, one of the talented photographers at 365project!

And of course I could not resist an Olivia Photo.

Amanda's May Post

MUD!  Honestly I did not see a lot of mud out and about.  Just on the hiking trails.  I thought it would be more fun to have the kids make mud and play in it.  I was right.  They had fun!

Both photos are taken with my 70-300 mm telephoto lens.  Settings were 1/250s, f8 and ISO very low.

Set up shot.  Had the kids place the ball in front of me so I could manually focus on the ball.  Had my shutter release set to high so I could take multiple shots with one press.  Took quite a few shots but I liked this one best.  This is with my 50mm set at f8 with a shutter speed of 1/250.  The ISO was set as low as I could get it.

I was going for simplicity here.  Dandelions, the flower only a mother can love.  I get a new bouquet just about every day now and it never fails to make me smile.  Settings were ISO 400, 1/125s, f5.6.  I also added a little softness in Picnik.

And one more, just because ;)
